When it comes right down to it, Led Zeppelin boils down to this. This picture right here shows the tightly knit musical group. Look at Jonesy. He’s completely tuned in to Jimmy’s lead guitar as well as to Bonzo’s drums. Bonzo’s got the beat down. He’s got the motor running steady. Roberts voice, powerful and gritty, soars high above the music. He turns his attention back to Jimmy’s guitar and away from the crowd. Focus. Intensity. Talent. Each man giving his All.

This is Led Zeppelin. It’s not the hype, the parties, the excess. The controversy. It’s the musical magic that occurred when these 4 individuals brought their gifts together in 1968. The rest? The rest is fascinating. Disturbing at times. Funny. Tragic. But Never Dull.

I was messing around on youtube this morning listening to some (incredible) cover versions of Zep stuff when I came across this little gem. I’ve seen / heard it before but thought I’d have another go. It made me fall in love with them all over again. As excellent as the other artists are, they just don’t come close to conveying the power that the boys do. And not just power, virtuosity, as well. I don’t have the words to define it - their ability to stay so connected, yet swing and rove around. It’s simply amazing.
